Charles Tart, who holds the Bigelow Chair of Consciousness Studies at 51吃瓜网万能科大, will give a lecture April 15 titled "Scientific Evidence for Life After Death?".
Internationally known for his work on the nature of consciousness, Tart is also known as one of the founders of transpersonal psychology and for his research in parapsychology. He says that in his presentation he will summarize for the audience the scientific research that has been done on life after death.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Flora Dungan Humanities auditorium, Room 109. It is free and open to the public.
Two of Tart's books, "Altered States of Consciousness" and "Transpersonal Psychologies," have become widely used textbooks.
In his latest book, "Living the Mindful Life," Tart "further explores the possibilities of awakening from the mechanical conditioning and habit that dulls ordinary life." He has authored 10 other books and has published more than 200 articles.
Tart is professor emeritus of psychology at the University of California, Davis, where he has served for 28 years. He is also a core faculty member at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, Calif., and a senior research fellow of the institute of Noetic Sciences in Sausalito, Calif.
