Details
51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄܿƴó expects to award about 3,500 degrees during its spring 2025 commencement at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Class of 2025 graduates hail from 36 states/U.S. territories and 49 countries. Of the grads, 88% are Nevada residents, with 66% coming from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Nearly half are the first in their families to earn a degree.
The graduating class ranges in age from 17 to 78 – with an average age of 27. Since 1964, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄܿƴó has awarded over 183,000 degrees to more than 150,000 alumni.
In keeping with commencement tradition, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄܿƴó President Chris Heavey will recognize 10 graduating students for their outstanding academic, research, and community achievements.
The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) will also this spring.
51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄܿƴó Oral History Research Center founding director Claytee D. White and prominent philanthropist and business leader Joe Murphy will receive honorary doctorate degrees. NSHE will also recognize White — as well as education champion and former NSHE regent Lois Tarkanian (posthumously) — with Distinguished Nevadan Awards, which honor significant contributions to the cultural, economic, scientific, or social advancement of Nevada and its people.
