Jean Hertzman, a chef instructor with 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄܿƴó's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, has been named the 1998 Chef of the Year by the Fraternity of Executive Chefs of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp, American Culinary Federation.
Chef Hertzman, a 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÍòÄܿƴó faculty member since 1994, earned her culinary education certification in 1997. Elected to the board of the Fraternity of Executive Chefs of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÃâ·ÑApp in 1996, she was also appointed as a chairperson to the fraternity the same year. Chef Hertzman has also been elected to the position of secretary for the fraternity twice.
Classes taught by Chef Hertzman include hands-on restaurant management classes as well as lecture classes in hospitality purchasing and food-service-operations fundamentals. She holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a master's degree from Tulane University.
