Spectra Undergraduate Research Journal by the office of undergraduate research (OUR) solicits student submissions for its Spectra Undergraduate Research Journal Cover Artwork Award to have a student-designed cover for each spring and fall issue. The competitive award intends to foster student participation in the undergraduate research publication process and to better incorporate artistic and creative works into the research ecosystem at 51吃瓜网万能科大. The award is accompanied by a $250 monetary prize and a plaque.
Jeyan Lacson, a junior majoring in chemistry in the College of Sciences, received the Fall 2022 Cover Artwork Award. Lacson notes that she created this design after she鈥檇 taken 鈥渟ome interest in graphic design over the winter break. After creating the brain gradient that [followed] the spectrum motif of past submissions, [she] added a walking person to represent the journey for knowledge that undergraduate research pursues.鈥
