Amanda Koziura (Libraries) presented a paper, "," at the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) 2025 conference. The paper, co-authored by Faith Bradham from Bakersfield College and Maura Seale from the University of Michigan, explores the financial barriers faced by academic librarians in tenure-track or professional positions with promotion and/or tenure requirements that include service, scholarship, or other professional engagement. The presentation shared data showing that librarians often pay out of pocket for professional activities. It highlighted how costly this can be and explained that both the financial burden and limited reimbursement policies can make it difficult for librarians to stay involved in their field and maintain their positions.
