  • 鈥淗aving a COLA peer mentor really helped me out a lot this semester emotionally and academically. As a first year and first gen it鈥檚 scary navigating on your own, but with a peer mentor things aren鈥檛 as scary as they seem. I also had an amazing mentor who was super supportive and such a cool person to be around!鈥 - Aaliah Barrera Garcia, First-Year Mentee, Psychology

  • 鈥淢y experience in the WQP was a memorable and joyful experience, I was so honored that I was able to be a part of this wonderful program. When I first joined, I thought it would be a nice opportunity for me to meet others and I could become more involved. However, throughout this journey, I was able to gain so much valuable insight from my fellow warrior queens and our speakers. There was a speaker who once said something so profound and impactful that I still think of it to this day and it has become a personal mantra of mine. She said something along the lines of how you always think you can't get through this or that you can't do it, but you always end up overcoming it and you always will. I think that this saying is a good illustration of what it means to be empowered and I hope that future mentees will be able to feel this same impact as they go through the program.鈥 -Lily Luo, Warrior Queen Project Mentee
  • 鈥淎s a mentee in the Warrior Queen Project, I鈥檝e been given the opportunity to learn how to build my self-esteem professionally as a woman in any working field. The Lead Peer Mentor is one of the most amazing and empowering women I have learned to know in my life. She makes sure the program is engaging and evolves with time and current events. Additionally the environment created by all participating cohort members and Emilia fosters a supportive, collaborative, and safe space. I can鈥檛 wait to see how it evolves in the future!" -Melia-Rivers Johnson, Warrior Queen Project Mentee

  • 鈥淏eing in the Neon Pacific Initiative program has greatly impacted my college experience so far. It's given me a space to interact with people who understand me and are curious on how culture and heritage impact our lives. The program has also given me a mentor that understands what the mentees are going through, especially since the transition from high school to college was a bit rougher than I expected. All in all, being a mentee in NPI has allowed me to increase my awareness of different cultures and experiences while being inclusive and empathetic, which to me is one of the best soft skills that you can obtain.鈥 -Annika De Lima, Neon Pacific Initiative Mentee
  • 鈥淢y experience as a mentee in the NPI has been nothing short of transformative. Through cohort meetings centered around storytelling, I鈥檝e learned how to showcase my story, as well as appreciate the diverse experiences of others. The workshops have been a safe space for me to grow alongside my peers. This program has supported me academically and personally, thanks to the guidance of my peer mentor and the faculty.
